Trip Itinerary & Travel Details

Day 1 Arrive in Lanzhou
Upon your arrival in Lanzhou, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Lanzhou. Free for rest of the day.
Day 2 Lanzhou Tour (B,L)
This morning, you will have the chance to see Liujia Xia Dam, which is is one of five planned with the help of Soviet advisors in the 1950s. It is one of the biggest hydroelectric power stations in China and was completed in 1974. You can take speed boat in Liujia Xia Dam as optional program.
Then you will have a visit to Bingling Temple. It is a famous stone cave temple in China of high artistic value. Lying in a canyon along the Yellow River, the temple features more than 100 big and small grottoes filled with Buddhist statues carved into natural caves. Therefore the temple was named "Bingling", which means "thousand Buddhas" in the Tibetan language. Being one of the very noted four caves in China, it is the second to Mogao Caves in respect of artistic value.
Day 3 Lanzhou-Wuwei (B,L)
You will be transferred to Wuwei in this morning. After arrival, you will visit the Han Tomb of Leitai, which famous for its bronze galloping horse, the symbol of China's tourism unearthed. It is a large brick and stone tomb of Zhangjun, the head of Zhangye County, built in late Eastern Han Dynasty. Inside the tomb, there were 231 gold, silver, bronze, iron, jade, bone, stone and pottery articles as well as 99 ceremonious bronze chariot and horse figures, among which the Bronze Flying Horse can be reputed as the masterwork of the Bronze Art.
Then you will move to Confucius Temple. It's a large-scale magnificent complex of palatial architecture lying at the southeast of Wuwei. Confucius Temple called Wenmiao in China was a sacred place for ancient scholars to worship Confucius. Confucius Temple is the largest and best-preserved temple dedicated to Confucius in Gansu province.
Last you will visit the Haizang Temple. It is the largest complex of ancient buildings in Wuwei. The temple was opened as a park. The well preserved gateways, archways, pavilions and temples of Ming and Qing Dynasties are surrounded by river, lake and age-old trees, which make the park a quiet spot with its spectacular scenery.
Day 4 Wuwei-Zhangye (B,L)
You will be transferred to Zhangye in this morning. After arrival, you will visit the Giant Buddha Temple, which is well known for the remains of China's biggest indoor sculpture of Nirvana Buddha.
After that, you will go to visit the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower. It was built in 1507 during the Ming Dynasty. The tower is the biggest drum tower which consists of the foundation and a three-storey pavilion in the Hexi Corridor of the silk road district.
Day 5 Zhangye-Jiayuguan (B,L)
You will be transferred to Jiayuguan in this morning. Arrive in Jiayuguan, you will head to Jiayuguan Pass. It is the main part of the western end of the Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty. It has been the first pass of Hexi region since ancient times.
Then you will visit Wei-jin Mural Tombs. It is a big tomb group with over 1,400 tombs built between the 3rd Century and 5th Century during the Wei and Jin dynasties and is well known as the largest subterranean art gallery in the world.
last you will go to see the Suspension Great Wall. It was built during the Ming Dynasty. The Overhanging Wall gets its name because there is a 231 meter long section, with an obliquity of 45 degrees, built onto a 150m high ridge. From a distance, it is said to resemble a dragon about to extend its body towards the ground.
Day 6 Jiayuguan-Dunhuang (B,L)
This morning you will br transferred to the 2,000 years old oasis town-Dunhuang. After arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel by our tour guide. Free at leisure the rest of the day.
Day 7 Dunhuang Tour (B,L)
Today's highlight is to tour the Mogao Caves, popularly known as the "Thousand Buddha Caves". The caves hold the world's richest treasure house of Buddhist sutras, murals and sculptures. Mixing India and Chinese styles, they are a remarkable record of Silk Road civilization. Here you will experience a short camel-riding along the Echoing-Sand Dune to the Crescent Lake.The lake and the Echoing-Sand Dune which can make sounds when the wind passes are located in the place where the sand and the oasis meet.
Day 8 Dunhuang Tour (B,L)
After breakfast, you will visit Yangguan pass which was established in 121BC of the Western Han Dynasty to defend against the attacks of other minority nationalities and to develop the area of Xiyu. Yangguan Pass once was the gateway to the Xiyu area and an important pass on the Silk Road.
Afterwards, you will proceed to Gansu Provincial Museum. It is the largest comprehensive museum in Gansu Province which holds about 350,000 pieces of ancient cultural relics, including contemporary and modern cultural relics, ethnic cultural relics and fossil specimens.
You will visit White Horse Dagoba at last. The White Horse Dagoba is located west of Dunhuang near the old city walls. It was built in 384AD to mark the grave of a beloved white horse.
Day 9 Dunhuang-Hami (B,L)
This morning you will br transferred to the eastern gateway of Xinjiang-Hami. On the way you will visit the hui tombs. After that, you will be met and transferred to your hotel by our tour guide. Free at leisure the rest of the day.
Day 10 Hami-Turpan (B,L)
Today drive to Turpan. Then you will drive to Turpan to visit the Ancient City of Jiaohe, which is one of the most important towns along the ancient Silk Road. It is probably the same size as Gaochang but better preserved. It is also the largest, oldest and best-preserved earth construction in the world. It is a life-sized model of a Tang Dynasty city.
Then you will will have an exploration of the famous Ancient Karez system. It is complete with a museum of displays and pictures. It is a good way to get an understanding of how the tunnels were dug.
Day 11 Turpan Tour (B,L)
Today we are going to visit the Astana Tomb, which is situated in the Gobi Desert. The tombs were the burial sites by the inhabitants of the ancient city of Gaochang. It covers an area of 10 square kilometers. Then passing by Flaming Mountain to Visit the Bezkelik Thousand Buddha Caves. They are a group of Buddhist cave grottos dating from the 5th to the 9th centuries. There are 77 rock-cut caves at the site.
Then you will go to visit the Emin Minaret. It also known as Sugong Tower. Emin Minaret is one of the most famous Islamic constructions and the only Islamic tower in China. The last stop of today will be Grape Valley. Situated in the base of the western end of Flaming Mountains, Grape Valley is a unique world of vineyards and fruit trees. This green paradise of 400 hektares is covered with layer upon layer of grapes.
Day 12 Turpan-Urumqi (B,L)
This morning, you will take three hours' ride from Turpan to Urumqi. After lunch, you will head to visit the Heavenly Mountain (Tianchi). Covering 4.9 square kilometers, this crescent-shaped water area deserves its name. With melted snow as its source, Heavenly Lake enjoys crystal water.Here you can boating on the Tianchi Lake.and escape into a peaceful, dream-like world.
Day 13 Urumqi (B,L)
Today you will explore the Nanshan Pasture. The Nanshan Pasture is located in Kelawucheng Mountain, a branch of north Heavenly Mountain. Moreover, there are numerous valleys in the pasture. You can ride a horse or a camel running through the valleys, walk across the woods picking mushrooms and enjoying the magical wild flowers, you also can climb up the mountain to overlook.
Then continue to visit the Terai Camp to experience the Kazak nomadic life and taste delicious Xinjiang Cruise-milk tea and mutton.
Day 14 Departure (B)
Free at leisure until to be transferred to the airport for your next destination.
