Pick up from your hotel in Chengdu and drive along ChengLe expressway for 2.5 hours to Leshan. You can enjoy rural views of the west Sichuan Plain along way. Arrive in Leshan at noon. After lunch, you will take a boat trip to have a panoramic view of the biggest carved Buddha statue in the world. The panorama of Leshan Giant Buddha and the Sleeping Buddha can be viewed from afar during cruise. The sightseeing lasts about 40 minutes.
After that, you will trek up the mountain to the ancient temple of Linyun Monastery, then the Buddha's head, walk down to the Buddha's Foot along the serpentine plank road constructed during Tang Dynasty. Upon this experience, you will grasp the meaning of the famous Chinese proverb Never burn incense when all is well, but clasp Buddha's feet when in distress. Walk from the foot to the head by Lingyun plank road. The whole visit session lasts for 3 hours. (L)
