Day 1 Arrive in Lhasa
Our guide will meet you at the arrival hall of Ghongkhar Airport or Lhasa train station with a sign of your name (or name of the group leader, or group name). And our guide will accompany and transfer you to your hotel in Lhasa. Free the rest of the day for you to rest and relax and adjust to the high altitude. Or you can explore surroundings or shopping streets nearby your hotel in Lhasa by yourselves.
Day 2 Visit Jokhang Temple, Barkor Market Street and Potola Palace
After breakfast, your Tibet private tour starts with the visit of the world's highest of the ancient palace architecture - the Potala Palace. The Potala Palace is a top famous tour attraction and it is regarded as the "pearl of the plateau,". It got its name from Mount Potala and is a magnificent castle architecture of Tibetan Buddhism. It was first built by the Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo and became home of the Dalai Lama in Lhasa. The Potala Palace was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994.
After lunch, you will visit the Jokhang Temple in the afternoon. It is also a UNESCO's World Heritage site. Jokhang Temple is also called Dazhaosi in Chinese Pinyin. The Jokhang Temple is a very important Tibetan Buddhist temple with great religious, political, and cultural influence of life in Tibet. Living Buddha reincarnation of the "Gold Urn" ceremony has always been conducted in the Jokhang Temple. The reincarnation of Panchen Gold Urn ceremony was also held here in 1995.
After that you will stroll on the Barkhor street, which is usually regarded as the "Window of Tibet". The Barkhor Street is an ancient and holy pilgrimage path to Jokhang Temple and is also famous for shopping.
Day 3 Visit Drepung Monastery, Norbulingka
Today's full day sightseeing tour in Lhasa will take you to Drepung Monastery which is the largest of the monastery of the Gelug Sect in Tibet, a new sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Drepung Monastery is in the western suburb of Lhasa, 5 km away from downtown Lhasa. 'Drepung Monastery' means Monastery of Collecting-Rice in the Tibetan language. The Monastery was built in 1416, and it was the largest temple of Tibetan Buddhism before liberation. The construction area of this monastery is about two hundred thousand square meters, like a beautiful mountain city.
Day 4 Visit Namsto lake (5 hours driving )
Day tour to Namtso Lake(4718m) via Yangpachen hot-spring. On the way you will see Nyenchen Thanglha snow mountain ranges, and also you will pass the Nagela Pass(5190m). Namtso Lake is the sky lake which is one of the three holy lakes, and also the highest salt lake. You can do a bit trekking at the lake side . On the way back , you will have a chance to have hot-spring at Yangbachen(4320m). Overnight in Lhasa .
Day 5 Lhasa/ Gyantse/Shigatse , VisitYamdrok, Pelkor Monastery, Pala Manor, the splendid Kumbum Stupa (7 hours driving )
In the morning drive to Gyantse along the Kyichu River. One the way , have a fantastic view of the holy lake Yamdrok (4441 m) and karola glacier. In the afternoon visit Pelkor Monastery, Pala Manor as well as the splendid Kumbum Stupa (100-Thousand-Buddha Pagoda) nearby in Gyantse(3980m). Then drive to Shigatse(3840m), stay overnight in Shigatse.
Day 6 Shigatse/Shegar/Old Tingri/Rongphu Monastery/E.B.C (6-7 hours driving )
Early morning visit Tashilunpo Monastery and then drive to Rongphu(5154m) via Lhatse and Shegar(4250m), cross over Gyatsola and Pangla Pass, where you will see the Himalaya mountain ranges in a clear day. Rongphu(5154m) is the highest monastery in Tibet, still a good point to see Mt.Everest. Afternoon start trekking from Rongphu to E.B.C(5250 m), it takes about 2 hours. Or you can take a local sight seeing bus(30RMB.P.P.). Overnight at Rongphu guest house. (dorm bed)
Day 7 Rongbu Monastery- Nyalam- Zhangmu (9 hours driving )Visit Rongbu Monastery, Mt. Everest
In the morning drive from Rongbuk, which is the highest temple in the world. If you are luck enough, you can see sunrise in E.B.C. Then drive to border of China and Nepal- Zhangmu(2250m) through Nyalam.Overnight at Zhangmu.
Day 8 Zhangmu
Send you to China-Nepal friendship bridge, end the happy trip.
