Hainan transportation |
Before 1950 there were practically no transportation links with the interior of the Hainan island. The first roads were built in the early 20th century, but no major road construction was undertaken in the mountains until the 1950s. Hainan transportation has been developing at a fast pace and has established a relatively complete operating network, including air, railway, expressway and sea transport.
By plane:
There are two 4E standard international airport in Hainan province, Haikou Meilan International Airport and Sanya Phoenix International Airport. Traveling by plane is the best way to travel to and from Hainan. 23 domestic routes connects Hainan with Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Qingdao, Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, and more. While 21 international air route to Singapore, Macaw, Malaysia, Thailand, Osaka, Tokyo and so on.
By train:
There are three train stations in Haikou including Haikou Railway station, East Railway Station and Meilan Airport Railway Station. As the construction of international tourism island, the train system of Hainan province has change to a new face. People can leave the city by train for Guangzhou, Sanya, Shanghai South and Beijing West.
By bus:
As the main means of land transportation in Hainan, expressways spread throughout the province. The expressways are constructed along the coast in circles between Sanya and Haikou. It only takes 3 hours for you driving from Haikou to Sanya through eastern expressway. There are several bus operating from Haikou or Sanya to each tourist districts each day.
By boat: Hainan is an island province and transportation by sea is important. Many of Hainan's bays can be reached by boat. Among the 54 harbors of Hainan island, Haikou, Sanya, Basuo, Yangpu ports are the large and famous ones, which can provide 60 berths. Passenger boats out of these ports are the highest quality and most efficient., |
