Zhangjiajie Transportation

With the rapid development of tourism, Zhangjiajie has undergone great improvements through the construction of new infrastructure including highways, railways and an airport. At present, it has formed a transportation network which takes downtown Zhangjiajie as the center and links up city and countryside, covering with 5 provinces or cities and 17 districts or counties.

By Air
The Zhangjiajie Lotus Airport is situated in the lotus village in the Yong Ding Region 5 kilometers from Zhangjiajie city center. To date Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport has served over 50 destinations to mainland Chinese cities, Hong Kong, Macau, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Xian, Shenyang, Tianjin, Nanjing, Changsha and so on. In February 24, 2011, Zhangjiajie airport has become the second international airport in Hunan Province.This means that Overseas visitors to Zhangjiajie can directly fly to Zhangjiajie. Zhangjiajie International Airport will have a huge role in promoting tourism and trade.

By Train
There are two railway stations in Zhangjiajie. One is a small station located in Cili County which is used for local traffic. The other is the main Zhangjiajie Railway Station located in Yongding District, 5 kilometers from the city proper, just opposite the bus station. It has trains that connect Zhangjiajie with major cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Bus No.1, 2, 6 and 7 connect Zhangjiajie Railway Station and the city center. Taxi fare is about CNY15 from the city center to the station.

By Highway
With the rapid development of tourism, Zhangjiajie's highway transportation system has also grown better. The expressway between Zhangjiajie and Changde has been completed, which makes it more convenient and comfortable for travelers to visit Zhangjiajie.

By City-bus
As for scenic areas' transportation, all central scenic areas of Wulingyuan are served with cable cars and environmental-protecting sightseeing cars. Every 5 minutes there will be a bus going from city proper to Wulingyuan, which is about one hour's drive, costing CNY5 per person. There are ten bus lines within Zhangjiajie City in total. For example, you can take Bus No.5 to the Tujia Folk Customs Park where local folk culture can be experienced.

By Taxi
Taxies can be found everywhere in the city. The starting price is CNY3. It is very convenient to take taxi to the Zhangjiajie Railway Station and the Zhangjiajie Lotus Airport and costs only about CNY15.
