Nakchu Horse Race Festival |
| Nakchu horse race festival is the grandest festival in northern Tibet. This festival is celebrated in August each year. When the day comes, the people gather in Nakchu dressed their traditional costumes. Colourful tents surround the racecourse at Nakchu, where thousands converge for the annual Horse Racing Festival. Watch shows of horsemanship skills, including archery on horseback and racing. Folk singing and dancing complete the celebrations. It makes the grassland look like a small town. The horse racing festivals and fairs are the traditional occasion for horse trade. The buying and selling of horses at these fairs attracts Tibetans from near and far for celebrations during the colorful week of activities., |
