The Tibetan calendar is made up of twelve lunar months and Losar begins on the first day of the first month. In the monasteries, the celebrations for the Losar begin on the twenty-ninth day of the twelfth month. Losar celebrations take place over a week, At this time, larders are stocked with grain and meat. It lasts year ahead even when no work is possible at the time of winters. New Year festival falls at the end of Dawa Chuchipda.
Losar festival commemorates the arrival of new year, celebrated by people who live in Tibet. The festival is marked with ancient ceremonies, the performance fights between good and evil, chanting and passing the fire torches through the crowds.
