Sanya Ancient Mosque |
Sanya Ancient Mosque (also named East Mosque) is the earliest mosque in Sanya which has a history of over 700 years. Sanya Ancient Mosque is located at Huihui Village and it was originally built at the beginning of Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). Sanya Ancient Mosque is the very first mosque in Hainan Island with Arabian architecture. Sanya Ancient Mosque was once destroyed during the culture revolution (1966-1976) and rebuilt on the original site in 1986 with the donation from local Muslims. The prayer hall of Sanya Ancient Mosque can accommodate over 1000 people to pray at the same time. Sanya Islamic Association is located at this mosque. |
