Tianzi Mountain |
Tianzi Mountain (Tianzishan) is located between Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Suoxi Valley natural reserve and covers an area of 67 square kilometers. The highest peak is 1,260 meters above sea level and provides wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Tianzi Mountain present itself in distinctive shape, geological features, and the rock formation is older than that in Yuanjiajie.
Tianzi Mountain means King's mountain in English. It named after Xiang Dakun-the leader of the Tujia ethnic group during the last years of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127 -1279). He led a revolution and avowed himself as Tianzi (Son of Heaven).
Tianzi Mountain is known as 'the Monarch of the Peak Forest'. At the top of the mountain, you can see the full extent of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area. You can take Bailong Elevator to see these charming peaks. Cable car is also available in Tianzhi Mountain.
There is a saying goes: "Being not Mt. Huangshan but better than it." The landscape here varies in different seasons and also in one day, which makes Tianzishan Mountain a very interesting destination. There are four highlights for the wonderful sceneries: the sea of clouds, peak forest, rays of sunshine and the snow in winter.
To sum up, the landscape in Tianzi Mountain is natural and original. Every scenic spot is created by nature and of no artificial trace. There are not only primitive forests and beautiful water but also plain folkways, special customs and local specialties and delicacies awaiting tourists from home and abroad.
