Yichang Sanxia Airport (IATA: YIH, ICAO: ZHYC) is located at the city of Yichang, in the Hubei province of the People's Republic of China. It has four gates.
Sanxia Airport has played an important role in the construction of the Three Gorges Dam Project. The airport was built in 1993 and finished in 1996. It occupies an area of about 3,966.4 mu (653.4 acres), and the runway is 2,600 meters (1.6 miles). Since 1996, the airport is home to 24 domestic airlines and 4 temporary international airlines. The airport is a major hub that is busy with planes coming and going from Yichang to many of the biggest cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xian. The international airlines fly to and from Hong Kong and Japanese, which is only temporary for now until established routes can be maintained.
The airport car park offers over 1,000 parking spaces, comprising a total area of 17,000 sq m (4.2 acres).
There are over 1,000 locally made products here as well as 1,500 delicate handcrafted items that are sold in the commercial center of the Departure Hall.
The restaurant in Departure Hall offers passengers Chinese dishes as well as Western Food. Drinks of all kinds can also be found there.
