The graveyard covers a total area of more than 5.3 hectares and was completed on July 7, 1945. Cemetery of World War II is the largest and best-preserved cemetery of KMT martyrs from the anti-Japanese and World War II. In 1944, one of the fiercest battles of the eight-year long war took place here with the Chinese Expedition Force's counter offensive to retake Tengchong from the hands of the Japanese. Over 3,000 Chinese soldiers contributed their lives in the 44-day long strike. Its unique value and heart-rending history draws visitors from all over who come here to pay their respect and homage to the martyrs.
