A pearl on the Yangtze River -- Shibaozhai Pagoda
Shibaozhai Pagoda, located at the north bank of the Yangtze River, is a 56-meter high pagoda isolated steep hill. During the Ming Dynasty (about 500 years ago), a 12-story wooden pagoda was built on the hillside facing the river. Its craftsmanship is so wonderful and unique that it is named "Pearl on the Yangtze River" by tourists'.
The Jade Seal Rock, which Shibao Pagoda depends on, has been surrounded by water. Cruise ships can directly sail to the main gate. Walking distance will be greatly shortened. Visiting won't be effected at all.
In order to prevent the Pagoda from the erosion by the water at 175m-level in 2009, a new dyke will be built around the Jade Seal Rock. Water will be blocked out of the gate. Then, Shibao Pagoda will really become the onzai in the Yangtze.
