Emei Mountain, Emershan |
Emei Mountain is one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. It is an ideal place to see sunrise and feel the Buddhist culture. The sunrise and Clouds Sea seen from the Golden Summit of the mountain are the greatest spectacles of Emei Mountain.
The sunrise can be very varied, but the perfect scene goes like this: begins with the ground and sky being in the same dark purple, soon showing rosy clouds, followed by a bright purple arc and then a semicircle where the sun is coming up. The Clouds Sea, as its names appears, has a multi-level and wide clouds.
Emei Mountain is the location of the first Buddhist temple built in China in the 1st century. The number of Buddhist monasteries of the Ming and Qing period has approximately up to seventy, most of them located near the mountain top. The monasteries demonstrate a flexible architectural style that adapts to the landscape. Emei Mountain is also well-known as a natural museum with more than 3,000 specimens of plants and 2,000 types of animals. Tourists are often fascinated by groups of monkeys that appear on the mountain roads.
