Ayi River

The Ayi River was previously named Changxi River and was also in names of Rushui River, Durushui River and Tang River in ancient times, and later got its present name "Ayi River" from a song of Miao minority which is entitled as "JiaoAyi(Beauly Ayi)" .The Ayi River scenic spot is located at the lower section of the Changxi River. It is 21 kilometers away from the center of Pengshui county and about 201 kilometers from the city proper of Chongqing. At present, the developed section of this scenic spot is about 16 kilometers long and is famous for its high mountains and deep valleys, narrow river bed, over-scattered reefs, clean and still river water as well as its gorgeous scenery. In Ayi River scenic spot, the great Canyon of Qili Tang (seven li Pond) is especially well-known for its narrow and wriggled river bed, precipitous cliffs and diversified forms of hills and rocks on both river sides. At the bottom of the canyon, the river water is so clean and deep that you can not expect to see the real bottom of the river, and at the top of the canyon stand the dense trees and bamboos that are seemingly penetrating into clouds. With birds ' singing and monkeys ' calling in trees, fishes in the river are also happily dancing.
