Moon Hill, Yangshuo |
Moonhill is located about 6 km southeast of Yangshuo. The fantastic views have made this hill the symbol of Yangshuo. Moon Hill has a natural round cave at the peak. The cave resembles the moon when looked from a distance. That is how it got its name.
It is easy to reach since it is close to the main road. You can take a motorized rickshaw or rent a motorbike in town to get there. Make sure you negotiate the price before you get on. The entrance fee is alway rising. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes slow walk up to the top though the path is not difficult. You can walk up to the hole in the rock and have some good views over the surrounding mountains. Usually it is more quiet in the earlier morning or late afternoon. The views are sometimes a bit hazy at those times but that gives it also a bit of a mysterious idea.
Moon hill is also a famous rock climbing area, with 14 rock-climbing routes on the northwest side. If you are a participant or spectator of rock climbing, Moon Hill will be more meaningful to you.
