Mural Hill, Li River |
Mural Hill, Li River The Li River cruise from Guilin to Yang shuo is the centerpiece of travel in Guilin, and Mural Hill is one of the scenic spots during the cruise. It is located on the west bank of the Li River about 37 miles from Guilin. The cliff of the hill is a blazoned with yellow, white, black, grey and green colors. The cliff face looks like a natural mural with images of nine horses from a distance.
The poses of the horses are vary: wildly running, standing still, neighing, browsing or drinking water. It is not that easy to identify all of the nine horses, and most people can only recognize three or four horses images. A folk story says that the one who can identify all nine horses will be Number One Scholar, a title of whom came out first in the highest imperial examination.
