Guilin Liberation Bridge |
In 1999, the Guilin government decided to dismantle the old Liberation Bridge and built the new one on the same location. In the morning of September 28, 2001, the bridge was officially opened.
The new Liberation Bridge is 284 meters long, 45 meters wide, of which 22 meters wide for vehicles. It is two-way six lanes. At both ends of the bridge there is a large hydrophilic platform.
Flowers are placed on the middle of the bridge in order to separate carriageways. Along the east coast there is the cool new Walking Street. On the west bank lines the bustling commercial street. The liberation Bridge has become another landmark and tourist attraction in Guilin.
