 Shaanxi Provincial History Museum
Shaanxi History Museum is located the northwest of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an city, Shaanxi province. The modern museum was built between 1983 and 2001. It is one of the best massive first-class national museums in China.
Shaanxi has been the imperial capital since ancient times, more than 13 feudal dynasties built their capitals here. Thus the province is rich in relics. The museum covers an area of 65,000 square meters a collection of 370,000 objects, s including murals, paintings, pottery, coins, as well as bronze, gold, and silver objects. These are all priceless artistic treasures.
The museum is built in the dignified and elegant Tang-dynasty style, harmonious and graceful in hue, combined traditional architecture with modern technology, which embodies folk tradition and local features, with a "hall in center, storied buildings in corners".
The exhibits on the ground and first floors are arranged in roughly three parts: Basic Exhibition Hall, the Theme Exhibition Hall and East Exhibition Hall. Among the chronological dynastic exhibits including the Han, Wei, Jin, North and South, Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, the pre-historical and bronze show together with terra cotta figures and murals from tombs of Tang dynasty are highly recommended.
The relics have also been exhibited overseas in cities in Japan, France, United States, United Kingdom, Germany and other countries and regions.
