Sanxingdui Ruins, Chengdu


Sanxingdui Ruins, located in Sichuan Province, is recognized as one of the most important ancient remains in the world for its vast size, lengthy period and enriched cultural contents.

In 1929, a farmer hollowed out two jade relics and since then excavation has continued till today. Generations of archaeologists have wosked on the discovery and research of the Sanxingdui culture. In 1986, two major sacrificial pits were found and they aroused worldwide academic attention.

The unique Sanxingdui Museum is located in the northeast of the Sanxingdui ruins. It is a 200,000 square museum ,equipping with modern facilities. The designs of the museum have many architectural breakthroughs. Modern technologies (sound, light, and electricity) are used to show the charm of the ancient site.

There are over a thousand pieces of precious bronze, jade, gold ,pottery, and bone relics are showed. There are many bizarre bronze relics, for example:2.62 meters high bronze man, 1.38 meters wide bronze masks, and 3.96 bronze tree, etc..

It has the poetic charm with historical, geographical features and cultural art. It fully shows the broadness and profundity of Sanxingdui culture.
