Chengdu Mosque |
Chengdu mosque, located at south of the bell-tower in the old town, was first built in the Ming Dynasty (1375). The Qing Emperor Yongzheng and Qianlong had overhauled it several times ,the building was very large, but in 1941,the mosque was partially destroyed by a Japanese air-raid.
Now the major intact existing construction is the prayer hall, 15.7m / 51ft long and 11.7m/38ft wide and covered in enameled tiles.
The roof is covered with glazed tile, birds ornament are placed on the ridge for decoration. The back of the hall was brick wall and the remaining three sides are mounted with exquisite wooden lattice doors.
