Church of Xujiahui

Church of Xujiahui is located at NO.156 Puxi Road in Xuhui District. It start building in 1905 and finished in 1910. In 1966, at the opening of the Cultural Revolution, this cathedral church's ceiling was tear down and roughly 300 square meters of stained glass was smashed. For the next ten years the building served as a state-owned grain warehouse. The church was rebuilt in 1980.

Xujiahui Church is 79 meters high, 28 meters wide. There are 64 Stone carved columns in the hall and each column are consist of 10 small columns. Floor are tiled with bricks and the middle channel is tiled with ceramic bricks. Doors and windows are Gothic-style pointed arches, inlaid with colored glass patterns and statues. There are 19 altars, the middle altar is comes from Paris in Easter 1919, which have a high religious art value. It can accommodate 2,500 worshippers at the same time.
