West Lake, the most famous attraction in Hangzhou. The West Lake is located in the western area of Hangzhou. It has been a water wonderland for centuries and was once a favorite imperial retreat. In ancient times, a lot of poets and artists described the West Lake in the different scenes. There are many historical sites and fasinating scenes around the lake.
There are two distinctive walking causeways lying over the lake -
Su Causeway and
Bai Causeway. Walking along the Su Causeway, it will give you the best chance to get close to the lake. The views are the different in different seasons. Come in spring for its willows tossing admist blooming peach flowers; in summer for the breeze bringing the fragrance of lotus; in autumn for its crisp air and blazing foliage, and in winter for its enthralling white satin spreading the realm.
After lunch in a local restaurant by the West Lake, you will go to visit the
Ling Yin Temple, which is located in a long and narrow valley between Feilai Feng and North Peak northwest of West Lake. It is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in China. The name of Lingyin Temple is indicative of its peaceful natural surroundings. The temple is a well-hidden retreat covered on three sides by hills.
After that, you will go to visit The
Six Harmonies Pagoda which is located on Yuelun Hill overlooking the Qiantang River, and south of West Lake (Xi Hu) and is one of the masterpieces of ancient Chinese architectures. The Six Harmonies Pagoda is one of the most famous must-see sceneries in Hangzhou. (L)
