Zhenyuan Ancient Town |
Zhenyuan Ancient Town, an ancient town in the northwestern part of Guizhou province, 3 hours driving from Kaili city, is a pearl on the Wuyang River. Famous for its beautiful landscape, historic sites and dense minority ethnic customs. Most of the town's dwellers are Miao people. Zhenyuan established its town seat in the Qin Dynasty and became an important city in the Ming Dynasty. As a top tourist attraction, the town is noted for a long history and plenty of cultural relics, which make it much like a historic museum.
Zhenyuan Ancient Town only covering an area of 3.1 square kilometers, but it greets you with more than 160 scenic spots such as unique traditional architecture of caves, palaces, pavilions, temples, bridges, exquisite engravings and marvelous river sights. Especially, the Black Dragon Cave (Qinglong Cave) is a religious complex of Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. What's more, the Dragon Boat Festival, held on May 25th of every year on the Wuyang River, is the most ceremonious celebration in Zhenyuan. |
