Yellow Dragon Cave(Huanglong hole) located in the east of Suoxiyu Valley, 15 minutes drive from Suoxiyu town, 1 hour drive from Zhangjiajie City, 20 minutes drive from Zhangjiajie National Park. The Yellow Dragon Cave is one of the foremost scenic areas in Zhangjiajie, and was rated as one of the first 4A National Tourist Attractions in China. Also it has been honored as "magical karst cave both in China and in the world".
Yellow Dragon Cave was discovered in 1983 and opened to tourists in 1984. It is one of the earliest caves open for tourism and it is a typical Karst cave. Sometourists thought of the cave as the most beautiful in China. It is a very large limestone cave, occupying an area of 100,000 square meters. The length of the cave is 7.6 kilometers and the height is 140 meters. It comprised of two drought stores and two wet stores, two underground rivers, four waterfalls, 13 caverns and 10,000 stalagmites and stalactites. Although about two fifth of the cave is open to tourists, the time needed to explore this huge cave amounted to approximately two hours. In the cave, we can see "cave beyond cave, tower beyond tower, sky beyond sky and mountain beyond mountain". Entering the cave, you will feel you are in a fairyland, beautiful and peaceful.
Yellow Dragon Cave is more beautiful than the outside world. "Day or night, without fear of rain or wind, all year long, you can delight in its wonderful scenery." The features of the Yellow Dragon Cavern can be summarized into six sentences. First, the cavern features numerous mysterious caves. Second, it is one of the largest Karst caverns in China. Third, the limestone in the cavern comes in a variety of fantastic shapes. Fourth, the limestone here is colorful, glittering and translucent. Fifth, the limestone and the water sometimes create attractive sounds, like music from heaven. Finally, boating is possible in the under streams in the cave. So this will be a life-enhancing trip!
