Mengle Cultural Park |
"Mengle" is the ancient name of Xishuangbanna. Present-day Mengle Cultural Park, the past Dai palace, is an integrated scenic area consisting of the local historical culture, ethnic folkway and popular science of guadrumana. There are Holy font and ancient pagoda renowned in Southeast Asia, finely-engraved footstones of palace column and ancient trenches of the Dai palace, thousand-year-old rare trees recording the Dai palace's 800 years historical vicissitudes: In the only Dai ethnic museum in China, displays more than 1000 cultural relics representing Xishuangbanna Dais' harmonious society, as well as their production, life, folkway and religious belief; folk-custom activities in the park are held interactively to unfold the Dai ethnic festivals, including Buddha worship, pagoda worship, dropping water, tying thread, setting off fireworks into the sky, singing and dancing performances and ceremony of collecting divine water; in the zone for science popularization of animals, over ten endangered rare species let tourists enjoy the splendours of the Animal Kingdom.
